Hillsboro FCCLA  places 3rd at National FCCLA in Chicago

Hillsboro FCCLA Knowledge (Quiz) Bowl team consisting of Ashley Brandt, Aubrey Meier, Ashlyn Simmons, Emily Hoskinson & Rachel MacKenzie, placed 3rd at the National FCCLA Conference in downtown,Chicago, July 4-8, 2010. Hillsboro went undefeated throughout the pool play and went into the final rounds only losing to the 1st & 2nd place teams.  To qualify for this event, Hillsboro competed last November in Louisville, KY, and was one of 15 teams to advance to Chicago.  Questions were base on information related to Nutrition & Food Science, Parenting & Child Development, Fashion, Housing, Hospitality & Culinary Arts, and FCCLA facts.  It was a dynamic experience.  This convention hosted over 6,000 members from the United States and Puerto Rico.  The conference also included STAR event competitions, election of National officers, motivational speakers and youth workshops. Chicago, itself was a super experience. Accompanying the group was Mrs. Jill Meier and Mrs. Monica Leihy.
